Referring Patients to Nair Hospital
Referring Emergencies:
Nair Hospital accepts all type of medical emergencies including accidents and medicolegal cases. All emergency cases should be referred to the Casualty (OPD No. 1) which is situated in the ground floor of the OPD Building (North Entrance). The Casualty is open 24 hours a day and referral notes may be addressed to the Casualty Medical Officer who is always available.
If the patient is already under treatment from Nair Hospital, the patient will be required to carry the old case papers and the referral note may be addressed to the registrar of the unit managing the case.
Referring Routine Cases:
The regular timings of the Outpatient Services are 8.30 to 12.30. However, new case papers are issued only up to 10.30 am. Hence routine cases who need a new case paper, must reach Nair Hospital before 10.00 am. Case papers are issued at the Registration Window (OPD No. 4) located in the central hall on the Ground Floor of the OPD Building.
To make sure that your patient's visit does not go waste please check the OPD Schedule & Timing Chart and check the timing of the OPD your patient needs. The location of the OPD is also mentioned in the chart. Once the doctor examines patients and prescribes medicines, they are usually available at the dispensary (OPD No. 5) situated on the ground floor of the OPD Building.
Nair Hospital OPDs are working on some bank holidays but not on all bank holidays. Hence, on those days it is safer to check up on phone whether the OPDs are working or otherwise.
