All emergencies are seen in the Casualty (OPD No. 1, Ground floor of OPD Building). Other commonly needed emergency areas (Emergency Ward, Trauma Ward & ICCU) are close to the casualty.
Information for New OPD Patients:
The Inquiry Counter is on the ground floor, in the main hall of the OPD building close to its main entrance. All patients visiting Nair Hospital for the first time are required to first register themselves at the OPD Registration Counter (OPD No. 4, Ground Floor, OPD Building). The registration clerk, after noting your personal details, will ask about your medical complaint and will then issue an appropriate OPD paper. On payment of Rs. 10/- here you will be handed a case paper and a receipt for the money received.
Check the OPD number mentioned on the case paper and go to that OPD. For detailed directions on the location and timing of the OPD, please click here. Average waiting periods of different OPDs fall between 30 to 90 minutes. The doctor will then see you and will write a prescription and / or fill up some forms for tests.
Blood for most of the tests is collected at OPD No. 16 on the first floor of the OPD Building. However, you will need to take an appointment for most of the tests. X-rays and sonography is done on the ground floor of the Main Hospital Building. However, orthopaedic X-rays are done on the ground floor of the OPD Building next to the Casualty (No. 1). Available medicines are to be collected from the Dispensary (OPD No. 5, Ground floor, OPD Building).
Information for Indoor Admissions:
Once a doctor advises admission either in the casualty or in an OPD, signature of a Medical Officer is needed either from the Casualty (No. 1 after office hours) or from the AMO office (No. 22, ground floor, Old Hospital Building, opposite Main Hospital Building). After this an Indoor case paper needs to be taken out from the Indoor Registration Counter (OPD No. 4). Check the ward number mentioned on the Indoor Case Paper and follow the directions to reach the correct ward.
