History:

The department was inaugurated in May 1998 as a unique facility for treatment of Cancer. This is the only such setup amongst all the Municipal hospitals in the city.

    The department offers radiotherapy to cancer patients on OPD basis, without the need for admission. Records are maintained meticulously and patients are carefully followed up.

The department has State of Art equipments to offer treatment to Cancer patients. It has a modern Cobalt Teletherapy machine, Simulator, 3D Treatment Planning System and Brachytherapy facility under one roof. In a matter of just 2 years, this center has offered treatment in the form of Radiotherapy and Chemotherapy to more than 1,300 cancer patients at a reasonable cost.

The hospital is now striving hard to upgrade various facilities to offer comprehensive cancer care.

In order to provide specialised outdoor services a Surgical Oncology OPD and a Gynecological Oncology OPD service was recently added. In near future we propose to start Bone Marrow Transplantation.


Staff:

The department is managed by trained and dedicated staff of Radiotherapist, Medical Physicist and Radiation Safety Officer and qualified Technologists.
