Emergency Services & Acute Care Units
Nair Hospital is well geared to handle any type of emergency be it a medical emergency like asthma or heart attack or a surgical emergency like a case of vehicular accident or appendicitis. It is also well equipped to manage emergencies in children and pregnant women as well as newborns.
All emergency cases are first attended to in the Casualty (OPD No. 1, ground floor, OPD Building) by the Casualty Medical Officer (CMO). The CMO is available in the Casualty round the clock and makes the decision as to whether the emergency can be managed by himself / herself or needs admission in a ward or opinion of a specialist. At least one senior and one junior resident from each speciality are available on hospital campus at all times and can be contacted by paging them.
The Casualty is situated next to commonly needed emergency areas like Trauma Ward and Operation Theatre as well as Medical Emergency Ward and Intensive Cardiac Care Unit.
