History:

Orthopaedics Department began in Nair Hospital in 1944 with the appointment of Dr. Masalawala. Dr. Sant headed the department for a long time between 1947 to 1972 when Dr. Chaubal took charge. Dr. Talwalkar took over from Dr. Chaubal in 1985 and remained at the helm till 1998 when he retired.


Current Activities:

Dept. of Orthopaedics is a multidisciplinary tertiary referral center for orthopaedic cases from all over the state and country. It is a 120 bedded department with 3 functioning units. If efficiently deals with all the routine orthopaedic and emergency trauma cases.
