... Orthopaedics: Special Services
The department takes pride in 'Special - Care' Programmes in the fields of Spine Surgery and Arthroplasty of hip and knee.
Spine Surgery:
The Spine - Care Center is equipped to deal with various aspects of Spine Surgery. This includes scoliosis correction, congenital anomalies like hemivertebrae excision, MMC and spinal tumor excision.
Arthroplasty:
Arthroplasty Services have been the hallmark of the dept; with care offered mainly for arthroplasties of hip and knee. A detailed programme for patient counseling, pre-operative planning, execution of surgery and post-operative follow up protocol allows for analysis and research.
Joint replacement surgeries are performed at cheapest possible rates (only the cost of the artificial joint) which is approximately one third or one fifth as compared to rates charged in a private hospital. Poor patients are also provided financial help in association with certain private trusts or hospital run poor patients fund. Department has fully operational and state of art Arthroscopy equipment and conducts regular arthroscopic procedures like meniscectomy, ACL reconstruction, etc routinely. Shoulder arthroscopy also is done on regular basis.
Well equipped Physiotheropy and Occupational Therapy Departments co-ordinate this programme. The Dept. offers training in these fields to students of orthopaedics. The course includes a research topic for promotion of activities of the Dept.
