Staff Society


Staff Society of the TN Medical College was initiated in 1951 with the aim of promoting an interchange of ideas among the members of the teaching staff of the College. All full time and part time teachers of the College are members of the body. Resident doctors and retired staff members are associate members of the society.

The Staff Society organizes quarterly scientific meetings, which give an opportunity for its members to present their scientific work. In order to get an influx of fresh ideas into the College, the staff society arranges guest lectures. Dr. A.R. Patel, a past president of the Staff society, has donated two rotating shields for best scientific papers presented during each year, one for junior staff members and one for senior staff members.

The Staff Society holds an Annual Dinner, usually in the month of April, during which all members who bring laurels to the institution are felicitated and retiring, transferred or newly appointed staff members are given a warm send off or welcome accordingly. All retired members are presented with mementoes.

A yearly bulletin of all activities is published highlighting the various research and developmental activities.
